Saunton Sands - Inspiration

I love the way that the sea left this pattern on the sand, just for me! I see a print emerging!

Saunton has 3 miles of beautiful beach, even bigger when the tide is out.

Tilly LOVES the beach and probably ran 10 miles round and round in circles to the sea and back...!

Spring/Summer Inspiration - Salcombe Boat sheds

Some of the background shots from our Spring/Summer photo shoot in Salcombe.

You cannot help but be intrigued and inspired by the old boat sheds tucked away down the side streets of Salcombe. Beautifully crafted boats peek through weather beaten doors.

We happened to stumble into this hidden gem. A huge stack of lobster pots.

This lovely old weather boat shed door, was the perfect backdrop for our website. The colour and texture were just what we were looking for.

Foraging through the flora and fauna of the woodlands.

Berry red and cider shade eco leather contrasted with locally made handloom tweed in moss like green. Basket inspired shapes and prints, with organic gingham checks and natural linen.

All handcrafted in Devon.

AW13 - Keeping it local!

 It is an exciting time here at Hawthorn as new products and materials start to arrive for our AW13 range which will launch 1st September.

Some lovely toasty Exmoor wool socks.

         Tweed material we will be using for some of our bags woven locally on the edge of Dartmoor using a traditional handloom.

AW13 will also see the launch of our eco leather range, which has been tanned using only plant extracts and non harmful chemicals. Made by a skilled leatherworker also on the edge Dartmoor.

Happy Hawthorn Bank Holiday trip to Sharpham Vineyard

       Tinside bike tote - Not always on a bike! It is very handy and you really can fit quite a bit in!

Yesterday we took a little trip to Sharpham Vineyard, near Totnes in Devon. 

A working vineyard and cheese dairy set in an idyllic location on the banks of the river Dart.

We come here as a little treat to sample the tasty cheese boards and of course the wine!

They also support local businesses and sustainable practices sharing the same views as Hawthorn.
